'Just want to add -- please be VERY cautious with the "go for the vulnerable spot" defense. The last thing any person wants to do when being attacked by someone that is stronger than them is to anger the attacker.

If you 'hit & miss' the scrotum, eyes, ears, shins, instep (or any other vulnerable spot), cause pain and/or draw blood, but do NOT totally disable your attacker (enough to outrun him/her)...what was going to be a basic robbery (or less violent type of attack)...can turn into a brutal beating or your death.

Angering or enraging an attacker is never a good option.
