The short answer to your questions is YES! I am struggling with autoimmune issues. I am 38 and had the Mirena for 2 years. My health started falling apart this last year. I've had the IUD out for 6 months. I've had ups and downs, but I'm overall better now than I was with it in. I've been tested heavily for lupus and MS. I tested positive for antinuclear antibodies and elevated rheumatic factor, but everything else was normal. I have a circulatory disorder (erythromelalgia)affecting the blood vessels in my feet and hands that is driving me crazy. The Drs. can only say that "something has derailed my immune system" and that I have a "non-specific autoimmune disorder." I truly had no other health issues before the Mirena.
