I was on the micronor pill before opting to have the mirena put in during a LEEP procedure.I already have my first daughter and wasn't planning on another baby for at least 5 yrs so it seemed like a reasonable option.
Not only did they test me for pregnancy a week before the op (Apr.22nd 10')and told me it was negative...my doctor blatantly LIED about the likelihood of side effects (I went to a very well known and supposedly competent hospital in South-Eastern, NH). I had a problem with ortho tricyclin making me throw up and I had asked the doctor "Will this create that kind of stomach upset? Because if it's likely- I won't have it inserted"
She told me that BECAUSE THE HORMONES ONLY EFFECT YOUR UTERUS, IT IS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY TO CAUSE SIDE EFFECTS TO THE REST OF YOUR BODY. Well, A.) That's complete BS and I should've recognized it when I heard it, B.) I was actually about 5 wks pregnant when I went through the procedure (even though I had been bleeding normally, before and after-so had no idea).
After 2 wks I could tell something was wrong and they said it was normal and would go away. After 4 weeks of vomiting up to 5 times a day, the last 2 days just bile, fever/chills, pain, headache, etc. I called again and they basically told me it wasn't their problem-to call a clinic.
When I couldn't move or hold down water I ended up going to Springfield (VT) E.R. where they put me on I.V. because I was so dehydrated and easily removed the aweful thing. When my blood test came back I was shocked to hear I was 5 wks...at the ultrasound the next day they said I was actually closer to 8wks...I don't know if I want to terminate or what...I'm so angry at the doctor, my mom wants me to file a lawsuit and I might. I can understand what you're going through and I appreciate any info you can pass along to me... *Prayers*
