...and he (an orthopedic specialist) believes it is a stress fracture. After doing some online-learning, I already kind of knew that. It turns out that the tibia (shin bone) is often subjected to stress fractures, only usually it is runners who get them (the only running I do is chasing our 2-year-old)! I had some x-rays taken at the office. Nothing showed up - but that's normal for stress fractures, which usually do not show up until they begin to heal. I will be going in for a bone scan on Friday now, to see what the deal is. This will be where they inject tracer-dye, which will show cracks, etc. in my bones. I was hoping he would go ahead and set me up for a DXA scan for osteoporosis, but I guess he wants medical proof of a non-injury fracture before starting to determine why it happened. I hate waiting... but I should start to find out more in the next week.
