by making either a strong tea or a strong decoction of BF&C (either one), moisten a dishtowel with it, wrap the knee, then use a plastic-shielded heating pad to help the herbal fluid to get in. Cycle the heating pad from off to thoroughly warm (about med-hi, but don't overdo it, just till the knee is warmed through, then off til knee is cooled through)a few times and go back and forth- I found this easiest done at bedtime.
Works very fast.
