FWIW, IMO, it's an overstimulation reaction reminiscent of adrenal problems. by vegas111 ..... Adrenal Fatigue Forum

Not an allergy. Your reaction to Isocort was, in my opinion, not caused by the Echinacea. While of course there are many who have reactions to Echinacea, what you describe is precisely what I have experienced on Isocort. My assumption is that it's stimulating both the adrenal cortex and medulla, yet your body is not tolerant of this stimulation. In my case, Isocort and other substances with similar stimulatory properties, such as steroids, some adaptogens, and some vitamins seem to produce a reaction similar to the ACTH stim test I underwent. Typically there is a boost in energy followed by a hazy, tired, somewhat ill feeling. My instinct when this happens is to discontinue taking the substance. I think you should too. You need something more gentle. The shooting pains you describe, they are associated with placing demands for adrenal hormones that cannot be fulfilled by your body. I get these when I push my body harder than it can handle...actually, I get these to some degree all day long unless I am just chillin. (That is, if you are talking about paresthesia) Sounds like hypoadrenia. You better stop turning up that thyroid button until you fix the adrenal situation. Your thyroid will probably start working better too, but you have some major work to do. Read Dr. Lam's article on Adrenal Exhaustion.
