I'm going to go out on a limb here and against the grain a little to say that I would NOT recommend kefir to either prevent or assist with candida flare-ups. This is purely anectdotal, but I relapsed pretty darn hard, while drinking 32oz of plain kefir about 3 times per week, I was not eating Sugar at all at the time, and eating quite a few (starchy)beans on a daily basis to increase dietary fiber intake. I was really caught off gaurd that candida did so well, ha ha believe me, under these condidtions in combination with major life stress, which is always a factor. Sorry for rambling, I'm not a kefir for candida fan. From the Helios website (plain - no Sugar added), there are 40 grams of Sugar per 32 oz, which is near the amount in a 12oz soda, which I assume, must be in the form of lactose. This despite that perception that kefir is very low lactose. The sugar content of this product is only slightly less than that of whole milk. Someone may correct me here, I'm not a scientist, but to me it just doesn't add up.

I would recommend as others have, any combination of antifungals -- garlic, oregano oil, caprylic and undelycenic acid, grapefruit seed extract ect... while you are taking the Antibiotics and maybe for a time after, then raw lactofermented sauerkraut (zero sugar)in combination with the plant based fiber (salad)type meals with egg and chicken protein, for at least a week following.
