In my case I have found that I have virtually no sleep apnea as long as I stay under a certain weight, whereas above that weight I have world class sleep apnea.  My point is that often trimming down can be a solution.  If not, then many people have found success with the forced air machines.  It certainly is nothing to take lightly, it can be fatal.  I am pretty sure that is what caused my maternal grandfather to die far before his time.
