Nah, that's actually only one of two theories:

Theory A) Mononucleosis knocks down your defenses for a month, allowing various pathogens to get an established foothold in your body. Fast forward a couple years, the little buggers grow up and out, and you're sick.

Theory B) Chronic fatigue syndrome is mononucleosis that won't go away completely, gets out of its acute phase in that first month or two, but then stays with you in a milder phase for like ever or until someone cures it somehow. The strain on your immune system lets various opportunistic crap move in. In candidiasis' case, that would be yeast and fungi.
