Am assuming that because you've just recently returned from Peru that your doctors have certainly checked for malaria.  Right?  Many of those symptoms could be malaria, and malaria is caused by a parasite in the blood stream - and it is curable nowadays.

Garlic rids the body of parasites of all kinds except for the eggs which means you have to continue ingesting it for several days.  Saw at one time they were even using it as a cure for malaria in animals so I know that raw garlic goes well beyond the gullet.   It also clears the body of heavy metals.
