The Safety Issue For Ionic Footbath Do-It-Yourselfers.. by ladylove ..... Ionic Foot Bath Forum

I guess I'm a little concerned, Cisco - Something tells me that copper electrodes are not safe to use, yet I don't have the data in hand yet that says why. It's a much softer metal than stainless steel though, which means it would be much easier to break off molecules and disperse them into the foot bath water. A problem might not be apparent with the first use, but I would find out a lot more before using it. Please be careful, OK?

After the wild experience yesterday and tracking down as much info on these footbath commercial units as possible, and reading and thinking about it alot as a result, here is what I have concluded:

The maximum powered footbath I have located is 10A, which lists a session duration of only 8 minutes, *not* 30. From what I have read, the footbath seems to use ions to facilitate a progressive clearing of the electrical pathways in the body.

10A is a lot of power, and the Schumacher charger folded back on me at 4A, I do not yet know why for sure. Based upon that 4A experience, I would be very leery of trying it with 10. It may also be that the higher amperages may require more salt in the water, I do not know. I will keep experimenting in every way I consider to be safe.

I'm not looking to create a drama here for the newspaper, I am looking for a healing tool.

I personally like the units with a built-in safety circuit, like the floating charger/maintainers; While I know the plug-in power adaptors would do the main job, I like the idea that there's also a dedicated circuit in operation ready to instantly limit things if something goes awry. So while I know the power adaptors will work, I don't consider them safe.
A very fine, safe and working charger is only $20.USD. brand new. I figure each of us is worth at least $20 ;-).

I can tell that there are positive aftereffects of the footbath for a minimum of 24 hours, so long as I keep drinking enough water..
I have also noticed that if I do *not* drink enough water, this continued response gets choked off.

I am keeping in mind the late and dear Dr. Batmanghelidj's discovery, that the greatest health problem in all of us is: dehydration. Same principle as if you suck through a straw, but the gunk is too thick and dry to get through the straw, all you do is flatten the straw.

I can feel that the electrical activity in the water will attempt to get through whatever electrical doorway it can, but I suspect that if too much power is applied when the body cannot conduct (or respond to) it (or is *too dehydrated*), some kind of burn-type effect could result, and I know that would not be good.

Therefore I feel it is safer to go slower than the maximum rate of speed, not rush things, and keep the power kind of low, at least until there is no apparent major health issue.

About Stainless Steel:
I have found one mfg using brass as well as stainless steel for the electrodes. I'm sticking with stainless steel until I see a very good reason to change it.

Stainless Steel is safe to cook food in at high temperatures, that's part of what I'm going by. Surgical steel instruments are also sterilized at very high temperatures and they are not a problem. I don't see anybody cooking in brass pots though, and I personally would not cook in copper either.

What I have read suggests using a 6V setting for the hands when using the ion tub as a hand bath. Because of the fact that the circuit will be running closer to the heart and brain, if I do it I will keep the power at its lowest setting, 2A. I may not try that for awhile, though.

I am not in a contest to see how fast and hard I can go with this.

I just want it to work- Well and safely.

So that's where I'm at right now, in case it gives anyone some good ideas, please post. I am wondering how is it going with the rest of us- GMUP, Believenatural (and your folks?)?

Thanks, all, for your patience with this long post.

Stay well,

Ladylove
