In lay man's language, does it mean someone with HIV could eat bananas to slow progression/prevent mutation of the virus thus helping already infected people or does it mean uninfected folks could eat a lot of bananas so that even though they may have interactions with the virus, chances of infection is slim? Do us, mere mortals a favour here by maybe explaining the article further.
