How much are you supplementing-- 1,000iu, 2,000iu, 5,000iu, 10,000iu???

How much do you weigh?? Given the severity of your asthma, it's probably a good guess you are deficient. 5,000-10,000iu would be a good starting point. It'd be a good idea to get your levels tested when you can. Poke around with google and try to find a site that offers deals on vitamin d tests. A while back, there was one site offering test kits for D3 for $35. It wouldn't hurt to contact the vitamin d council and see if they'll subsidize for you. They're currently trying to recruit folks to test validity of 2 labs.
