I hope this gives you some peace, Dr. Mom. I know we all second guess ourselves when someone critically ill under our care passes away despite our love, energy and dedication to heal. Did we do enough? Could we have done something different? Were our actions or inactions responsible? I've been there and I can relate and empathize with the grief, anguish and survivor's guilt you feel. Please set the guilt aside. It is undeserving.
As I said in my condolence message...you gave that little girl a normal life filled with love and laughter and each day she was alive was a little miracle. You crossed paths with her for a reason. You two were meant to know each other. Only time will provide you with the reason why. I think it is deeper than you were there to simply "rescue" her. She has put her own imprint on your soul and everyone else who knew and loved her. Rejoice that you had the time you did with your little earth angel, for that is what she was. She came into this world to pass on a lesson to you and others. Rejoice that she's no longer in pain and now watches over you.
