The Epsom Salts is not salt at all it is magnesium sulfate. It is used to dilate the bile ducts to make the stones easier to pass.

The theory behind using apple juice and or apples is that they contain malic acid which is supposed to make gall stones softer.

Psyllium is not a substitute for Epsom Salts .
