John,
The Vitamin D Council is pushing an agenda?
An agenda for what exactly?
Monetary gain from Vitamin D supplementation? They do not even sell the product which is very inexpensive in comparison to pharmaceuticals.
Perhaps you would like to explain this "agenda" with evidence to support that viewpoint.
The real agenda of the Vitamin D Council John is to educate and create an awareness to the public at large: that there is a widespread global deficiency of this nutrient, which at an appropriate intake, acts as a prophylactic against many serious diseases, including cancers.
As I have said previously, Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol or vitamin D3 manufactured in the skin or via supplementation) is only found to be a steroid after the Liver has converted this into Calcidiol (a prehormone) via the kidneys into Calcitriol.
Only Calcitriol is considered to be a steroid hormone and one of the most potent cancer-fighters.
Of course you may believe what you like, but bear in mind the articles/essays by Dr Marshall are only his opinion, and are not supported by any clinical trials or evidence.
I'd rather stick with the clinical evidence supported by actual evidence-based research listed on the Councils website and elsewhere.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=Pubmed%20and%20vitamin%20D&itool=Quer...
The list is endless.
I respect your viewpoint even though I believe it to be erroneous: debating was also not my intention either, only to offer a counter-balance viewpoint based on the actual research of Vitamin D, which is entirely absent from the essays of Dr Marshall, who only offered his opinion.
