Have you tried bach's rescue remedy? It now comes in pastilles, a kind of gummy lozegne. It worked wonders on my daughter's fear of thunderstorms. Faint rumbles of impending thunderstorm would turn her in to an hysterical child. Now, they only bother her if they're over head, and if she gets a rescue remedy lozenge, she calms right down. I'll even grab one if I get overstressed and find myself in a shouting match with her (she's a tween going on 35).
