Hello folks,

Here I am, 37 weeks pregnant with my second child, due on March 16.

I have talked with the midwives of a birthing center at the local hospital and I have planned to have the baby there.

It is the same place where I had my first child. They claim to go the natural way, meaning they let the woman be active in labor and they do not clamp the cord immediately.

However, things did not go so well with my 1st baby, as I found there were too many people staring at me while I was pushing, and no one of them actually giving me close help or attention.

Furthermore, they clamped the cord within seconds and removed the placenta immediately, which did hurt. They said it had to be done as the cord was too short to allow me to hold my baby before cutting it. However, it was a deceiving experience.

I have talked to other women who gave birth there and in general it seems like no one else had a negative experience so it might have just been a series unfortunate circumstances.

However, lately I have stumbled upon a few homebirth videos, and stories of women who gave birth on their own, and I eel tempted not to call the ambulance whan the moment arrives. I think giving birth at home by myself would be an empowering experience. I am not scared. I think I can do it much better on my own, than I did among strangers, in an hospital room.

I am looking for some advice there. I cannot afford an assisted homebirth and if I were to call my mother for help she would surely call the ambulance and have me go to the Hospital. My husband would be supportive of my choice, but I do not think he would be of much help, nor I would like him to be too much around ( I sent him home when I was laboring at the hospital, it felt better to be alone ).

I would like to hear from other women about choosing an unassisted birth, as I want to understand what I shoud actually do, whether be "wise" and go the "normal" way, or to follow my intuition and let the birth happen at home with no help.

Any thoughts are appreciated, Thank You in advance!
