If you read the directions with mixing the calcium hydroxide (pickling lime) you will be safe. You drink it diluted as followed by the DIRECTIONS!!!! It's like 2 tablespoons to a gallon. You mix 2 tablespoons of the diluted mixture in the drink. Perfectly safe! Read the directions like anything else and take the percautions in mixing. It is no myth. Go out and buy the PH strips and you will see for yourself that you can bring your body into a more alkaline state. I have. If you can tolerate the drink as I said before, than that can help along with a number of other things. Each person has to do their own research and try out what works for them. What works for one, may not work for another.
