Hello,

I've just read about sideropohore - ligand that is strong chelator of the iron. It is produced in some pathogrenic microorganisms ( like Candida Albicanis ) to compete for iron sources in host. So in human body it competes with lactoferrin and transferin for iron absorption. Iron is also beneficial for yeast and bacterias.

My question is:
I read that also grasses have siderophore ligand / protein in their metabolism. Would that mean that wheatgrass juice is uptaking the iron and this way we drinkers of fresh healing wheatgrass or barley grass juice we are exposed to the risk of loosing iron?

OR better! With wheatgrass juice drinking we are risking to get worse blood results for ferritin, hemoglobin lab. test?

Thank you in advance for your opinions and experiences!

God Bless you all.
