Oh4O7, Ahhh, thank you for pointing out my mistake, I was replying to the original post, not to your comments, or the previous poster, my mistake, I should have made this more obvious, as you have taken this as a personal reply to you. For this I apologise, I will endevour to make it very clear in future who I am replying to.

As for not understanding the obsession with guns, or the need for guns, this was explained by other posters in this thread with good grace, good advice as to historical research, and politeness. I did as suggested by one poster and researched the historical context of the right of Americans to bear arms, I now do understand much of the history behind the American view on gun ownership, and why people feel they need to have guns.

I have no obsession with guns, or gun ownership, I have both owned and used guns in the past, and not, depending on my needs at the time. I have an interest in how gun ownership is viewed in other countries, and in why people want to own guns. Interest yes, obsession no.

You on the other hand, have chosen to attack, questioning my principles, or your assumptions about what principles I hold, or not, as the case may be. You have chosen to be sarcastic in your manner, and have offered no constructive critique, just mealy mouthed comments on me as a person.

I am happy to admit my mistake in not making clear to whom my post was directed, but your comments to me were a gross over reaction IMO.
