I don't have an answer to this one unfortunately but something I wondered about myself. I just figured that I would do Iodine alone for awhile first and if that didn't totally resolve the problems then I would add some thyroid meds-I have been on them in the past. I have Hashimoto's and I do know that with prolonged raised antibodies it will destroy some of the thyroid glands ability to function. In this case, it may not matter how much Iodine you take if part of your gland has been destroyed you will probably need supplemental hormone as well. Diane
