I'm not an expert, but many times the color of the stone goes with the color of the chakra.

Purple/lavender stones are good for the crown (amethyst is the most popular and very gentle yet powerful).

I know lapis lazuli is really strong for the throat chakra, but it is strong...it can bring about honest communication (and eloquent, if you like writing/speaking) but it can also bring out some powerful emotions !

Green is usually for the heart, but there are many that serve different functions like emerald, for me, is faith. I find jade nice for balancing and shielding myself (I'm sensitive to energy) when I go out. Great for humility. Each green stone is different.

Yellow is good for the solar plexus (citrine is a classic).

Orange is good for the sacral chakra. But, as a girl, I like moonstone, too. Depends what you're doing. Do you have old issues of being in bad relationships?

Sometimes I use amethyst on the sacral chakra, too.

I don't do much with the root, so I don't know. I know I should...
