I am new to CS. I would like to clarify: which kill pathogens - silver ions or silver particles?

According to Wikipedia, it is silver ions do the killing; despite of a website named silver-colloids.com stresses the importance of silver particles over silver ions. I tend to believe the former rather than the latter. What do you think?

BTW, what is the best CS brand at a reasonable price?
