But eating Sugar depresses the immune system, slowing white blood cells to a crawl... I'm not sure if the pH of Sugar has anything to do with it. Sugar is also nutritionally defunct... An alkalising diet made all my symptoms worse I'm afraid. Look at the work of Weston Price- he saw plenty of tribes who consumed a lot of meat, milk and grains, but they were properly prepared- fermented, cooked for a long time, breaking down the anti-nutrients and fermenting them as food for friendly bacteria. the work of Mary Enig looks at the importance of proper food preparation to maximise absorption, regardless of whether a food is acid or alkaline. For people with Candida, starch is probably best avoided- a stoneage diet will be more beneficial, low carb with good fats, proteins and vegetables. See also the work of Barry Groves, an English author.
Just my 10 pence worth. I'm not a scientist but I know alkalising aggravated all my symptoms. Vegetable juicing fed my yeast overgrowth because it was stripped of all the other things that prevent high sugar spikes- perhaps fibre. Perhaps for those candida sufferers who did find benefit it was due to changing to a better diet with more minerals and vitamins??
