Hello everyone,


My husband, who is 52, threw up at work the other night, and there was some blood mixed in with it. Now, let me give you some background info. He is in basically "ordinary" shape I guess, which i suppose in reality, isn't that great, but he's not in BAD shape either. He IS somewhat overweight, by about 20 lbs. He doesn't eat very much sugar, or sweets at all, he never has. He doen'st eat particularly fatty foods either. He IS however,pretty affected by stress. He is the type to keep it in though, which isn't good. He has never thrown up with blood in it, before, this is the first time.

He was at work, he does physical work. He noticed that about a half an hour before this happened, he felt this sort of burning, achey pain feeling in the upper abdomen, around the stomach area, and spreading to under both breasts. This went on for that half an hour. Then, he felt like he had to have a bowel movement. Off to the bathroom he went, had a good bowel movement (he did say it was on the soft side though), and suddenly he began to feel nauseas. He flushed, and all of a sudden, he started to vomit, mostly bile he said (since he hadn't eaten in hours), mixed with blood. When I asked him how much blood, he said a descent amt...not much, but not little either!
He said it wasn't like "streaks" or just tiny dots of blood, no, this was more than that. The bathroom however, was on the darker side, since only a few of the dim lights were on, so, he said he really couldn't be SURE how much blood, could have been more, or less. But, he was pretty sure, it wasn't just a TINY amt.!

Once he threw up, he felt better. So, he went back to work. He didn't feel to good though, but kept working. He noticed that his stomach area, the upper abdomen, was now bloated, and "hard".... he said it also felt "sore" if you pressed on it.(the sore area, was smack dab inbetween the breasts, but not on the breast bone, but a little father down, where it starts to become just the stomach area, but in the middle there) .... I hope I'm describing this well enough. Now, this happened two nights ago.
So, he was off yesterday, thank God, and he wasn't himself, he was "weird".....he said he didn't feel to good, and I could easily see that. He DID have an appetite, and was able to eat pasta and sauce, AND A PIECE OF STEAK, with no problem, in fact, he FEELS BETTER WHEN HE EATS.
So, yesterday, he just relaxed at home, and tried to rest, but he said he felt as though someone had kicked him in the stomach, it felt sore.

So, that brings us to today. He is off today as well.
He is relaxing, but says he is feeling better. The BIG bloated abdomen has gone down a lot, and the sore feeling there has lessened. He is not nauseas...and is beginning to feel better all around. I can see he definatley feels better, he just did our taxes.! He's had hot oatmeal today, and some garlic mashed potatoes with pasta a little while ago, with NO PROBLEM. Again, he says, HE FEELS BETTER WHEN HE EATS. I've looked this up like crazy, on google.........ok, it seems like a duodenal ulcer to me.

He absolutley refuses to see anyone, and is the type to think he'll "always be ok".....yeah, well, that's nice, but it makes me nervous as hell, esp. the blood thing in the vomit! I have been a nervous wreck ever since this happened to him two nights ago. He on the other hand, is perfectly calm, and says he's doing better, and he'll be fine. I wish I could be like that, but that's not me!


So...........without scaring me, can I get some feedback on all this please. I would appreciate it so much!!!!
What does this sound like? WHAT CAN HE DO to heal this, if it is an ulcer, which i really think it is. He has been under TREMENDOUS amounts of stress at work the last two weeks....I MEAN, TREMENDOUS!!!!!

I take xanax for my anxiety, and i've given him one yesterday, and one today, which he doens't like, but i figured, maybe it would help calm him down, on the inside at least. He is taking Pepto Bismol chewable tablet things, which he says helps too. There really hasn't been anything in the last two days, that he's eaten, where he had a bad side affect, at least not that I saw, and we've been together all the time. Yesterday, the day afte this throw up thing with the blood happened, he was rubbing his stomach a lot, but today, he's not.

Again, keep in mind, the TREMENDOUS amt. of stress he's been dealing with at work the last few weeks.

There has to be some kind of natrual remedy to fix and heal this! Please help! I am so afraid of this blood thing!!!! (he has had a bowel movement today as well, it was "normal")
