And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day............26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

****I think your skepticism regarding distortions in the BIBLE is warranted, It is hard to trust most any text that exists, right? However I think the truth has been retained for the most part. With each translation there have been people that have poured over these scriptures more than any other, cross checking their meanings. It has been critical in forming English and many other languages(words). This is where I have faith, I believe the word "truth" is true. It seems abstract because it is a word, yet it is definite.
