If we are discussing the christian version of god then yes this image of god came from man's filters. God is nothing more than the playing field for all experiences and all potentials. Man paints a face on that creative potential that is god.

Another thing people tend to do is associate god as having preferences (separation again). God is everything unfolding with no preference whatsoever. It just is and the energy allows any and all possibilities.

Christians personify god. The saying that god created man in his image is an exact and opposite mirror of what has actually occurred. Man created god in their image. ;-)
