you can argue back and forth on this for forever, they will always interpret the bible in a more lenient way to compensate or disregard the bible and say it was manipulated by man, that the real thing said this or that. this is not a good way to debate christianity, although it is a flaw, it cannot be readily seen by those sucked into the fear. to get them out of the fear of nothingness in the end or hell in the end, you have to show them how their faith is not going to save them, by showing them what faith is. I did that in two earlier posts, faith is nothing but blind belief, like choosing a fairytale out of all the possible fairy tales, coupling with a bunch of people all binding together to make it seem real by sheer numbers and more combined blind faith. Furthermore, there's nothing to be afraid of, before you were born, that's how you will most likely feel when you die. It's that simple and noone ever realizes it. How did it feel before you were born? It's not that scary is it. I hear people all the time say "I wish I was never born" which would feel exactly the same as death. You just dont percieve anything, pain or pleasure. So enjoy life, not barbarically, because slow pleasure lasts a lot longer and will allow you to pass into death a very different way than you came into it (through tears and screams). And I can perfectly understand crying and screaming being in such a warm place, the first few feelings you have in life, and then boom, you're cold. Well when you're old and dying you're already cold, and you're going back to the nothingness which will be pleasant in comparison, so live to get old. At least that's my strategy (:
