This is what non-believers don't understand. There is a love relationship between God and his children, those who believe in Him. Here's an example that might clarify this some, probably a bad one, but here it is: Say you find the greatest man in the world (you're a woman, so that's why I'm saying man, assuming you are not a lesbian). Do you stay in the relationship out of fear, or because you love him? If he is the greatest man in the world, then he loves you with the greatest love, and not just in words but also actions. He never hurts you. His love is great in every way. Do you do things for him then out of love, or out of fear? With God there is great reward at the end of this life, but there is also great reward now. It's about a relationship with him, an amazing relationship with Him based on love, not fear.
2 Timothy 1:7: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
