Well I can't help you with the Epsom Salt - but if i were you I would cut in half this pod-like thing! What ever is inside, it won't bite you! I had something like that, there was a liquid inside and that was ist.
I had sand in one ov my flushs too. It seems that virutally anything can come out of the liver....
