An update on coconut oil.

I wrote a couple of days ago on this thread that maybe my newly-enlarged/newly-visible fordyce spots that have just become noticable in the past couple of weeks were a result of not having enough oil on my lips, because I've been using only glycerin on them the past few weeks.

I wrote that I would try going back to coconut oil, instead of glycerin, since coconut oil seems very healthy and pretty harmless, and the last time I tried it, it was a lot better for my lips than natural lip balms, vaseline, olive oil, steroid creams, etc.

However, these last 2 days, I've very sparingly used coconut oil, and my lips have gotten a LOT worse - distressingly, they have reversed their good progress that they'd been making over the course of quite a number of days. I have no idea if the deterioration is due to the coconut oil or not. Or maybe it's due to the sudden absence of the glycerin, if the glycerin had been helping them to heal.

Or maybe it's due to a third factor that I have no idea about. (Such as, I've drunk homemade hot chocolate - no additives or preservatives - a couple of times this week, after not having it for an entire year -- though the chance of hot chocolate causing my EC to dramatically get worse in the last 2 days is pretty low!)

In any event, I stopped using the coconut oil when I woke up today, and I'm back to only using glycerin. My lips are already better, after 15 hours without the coconut oil.

It's strange, because the first time I got into the coconut oil - a couple of months ago, it was so much *better* than all the other lip treatments I was trying, and it did not seem to make my lips get any worse. I'm not sure now why it would make them get worse.

Maybe it's just a coincidence. I will be able to tell more about that after a few days of just using glycerin again.
