HV write one of your posts that methanol or ethanol is harmful
Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol or wood alcohol, is a very strong nerve poison. Symptoms of poisoning include blindness, mental disturbances, headaches and seizures.
Ethanol is only harmful in sufficient quantities. Do you think a person can drink a whole bottle of tequila without harmful effects?
There is a saying "dosage makes the poison". Even water or oxygen can be harmful or deadly. What the toxic level is will vary from person to person. If a person has hemochromotosis ethanol can increase iron absorption leading to a dangerous increase in their iron load. And if a person has gout the alcohol can inhibit uric acid excretion. And some alcohols, such as beer, will raise uric acid levels. Healthy water ingestion levels for a healthy person can be detrimental to someone with congestive heart failure or kidney failure. People with COPD cannot be given high concentrations of oxygen or they can stop breathing. And you cannot scuba dive beyond 198 feet with air because the oxygen becomes toxic. Same reason hyperbaric medicine, which use 100% oxygen) do not pressurize beyond the equivalent of 60 feet of seawater.
(MSG is converted in the body is in a form-does not go into too much in this subject, so I may be wrong).
I don't have a clue. I have never heard this or seen any evidence to it.
Then you write that methanol, ethanol appear inside that assistive fruit. However, it is not harmful for the body as the first. Are you sure HV assuming your way of argument.
I am not sure if you are deliberately taking my post out of context to argue or if you just did not read the post clearly. What I was pointing out is that the aspartame industry was using using the same method of deception as the anti-soy proponents use to deceive the public. They claim that aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet, etc.) is just as safe as fruit or fruit juices since they contain methanol, which is a breakdown product of aspartame. What they are not telling the public is that unlike aspartame fruits and fruit juices also contain ethanol, which is the treatment for methanol poisoning. This does not say that either ethanol or methanol are safe. It only says that the toxicity of the methanol in fruits and fruit juices is countered by the presence of ethanol.
Now, comparing the flavonoids (isoflavones) in soy and grapefruit, will be similarly?
Flavonoids include phytoestrogens, which are found in many plants. Tell us do you consume any of these phytoestrogen containing foods?:
Sage, parsley, yams, peas, seaweeds, kudzu, beans, carrots, bananas, oranges, grains, barley, grapes, baker's yeast, beets, pomegranates, cherries, garlic, oats, olives, peppers, sunflower seeds, flax seed, rye, spinach, sesame seeds, pumpkin, rhubarb, tomatoes, rice, plums, potatoes, papaya, dates, eggplant, anise, fennel, cucumber, peanuts and onions.
Do you drink tea (green, oolong or black)? Or consume alcohols, in particular beer that is very rich in phytoestrogens? Or whiskey, gin, wine, ouzo.....
If you consume ANY of the above then why are you badmouthing soy because it contains beneficial phytoestrogens? The same applies if you eat anything with bioflavonoids, such as berries since bioflavonoids have the same effects as phytoestrogens. Or if you eat meats or dairy that contain hormones that are hundreds to thousands of times stronger than phytoestrogens. Now I am really curious, what do you eat and drink that does not contain phytoestrogens, bioflavonoids or estrogens?
Also do you take any herbs since most herbs have phytoestrogens and/or bioflavonoids?
Do you have any plastics in your car or house that contain xenoestrogens, which can be up to 100,000 times more powerful than estrogens, which themselves are 200-400 stronger than phytoestrogens? Do you water any of your garden with a garden hose, which contains xenoestrogenic plasticizers and lead? Do you ever swim in lakes, rivers or the ocean, which is generally contaminated with high levels of xenoestrogens? Do you live in an area that has been sprayed with DDT in the last 100 years? If you can answer yes to any of the above then you have a lot more to worry about than the weak beneficial phytoestrogens found in soy.
