The orange juice fast can be done with no herbs. Fruitairian is doing something that very few will do; he's aiming for 108 days of eating ONLY fruit and herbs. He has dental metals, so I can see where herbs would help.
I would think that Water Fasting is for the very advanced faster who already has clean organs. I agree, we should read a lot before attempting such a thing, but most people don't.
Water fasting can and has killed people, according to Arnold Ehret; I just read that in his Mucusless Diet book. Too much junk can get stirred up too fast, causing a person to feel miserable and they can choke to death on their own waste.
Who are the Hygienists? Sounds like there are some old books out there that they've written? Sounds intriguing.
"since mh is mentioned as a possible source of wisdom in this case...
MH (whom I respect a lot, for so much of what he does/knows)has NO appreciation of the Water Fast whatsoever. (He thinks it mainly a great feat of endurance; but that's all i've ever heard him comment on). Personally, I think he's sadly missed out on some of the experiental wisdom of the Hygienists, ansd what the WF might accomplish, if undertaken after proper reading,
(as with his 108 pages he encourages people FIRST read!!!)
The orange juice fast is what he promotes; (yet I don't see the current "fruitarian" doing that without a lot of additional assistance in the way of the "longevity spices" "Mrs. Barefoot", "Pica"...
(all good stuff, mind you)
For me however, this is not a "fast", so much as a genuine re-building, remineralizing feast, and cleansing.
I wonder if MH can even fathom the benefits of a water fast. I don't think so--and to be fair, so few undertake it even here, having done any proper studying beforehand.....
The "oj fast (which, the "pure way" as he has told it was a pint a day, and nothing else, no herbs, etc.) might be (or could have been) very good for some...might be hard to even envision, for others
Just saying...
yet the water fast, not being any kind of feast, can provide a deep rest, if undertaken properly."
