I have been reading with great interest and am taking time away from family on Christmas to respond here because I feel it is important.

This discussion has hit a nerve with me. I was a vegan for several years, in fact raw vegan. I mainly did this for ethical, coherent reasons, regarding our animal friends. But I must say that I enjoyed the physical benefits as well. I did lots of cleansing and detoxing during this lifestyle. I was 20 pounds thinner. But MOSTLY, I felt lighter spiritually, because of the higher VIBEration food choices. My digestion system benefited greatly and I was highly alkaline. Not an ache or a pain anywhere!!

Now for the confession: I now eat meat. My naturpath's orders.....my adrenals crashed and he felt part of the issue along with emotional stress, was not enough protein. I went along with his belief system and took his advice. I have been struggling with this choice now for awhile. Although I did need something in the meat because I am feeling better. I probably just was not getting the properly mineralized, quality produce. I intend to have my own organic garden someday.

I can tell you FROM EXPERIENCE, that the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is the coherent choice. I plan to go back to it. If I claim to be a proponent of peace and non-violence, this must extend to my animal "brothers and sisters." They FEEL pain. They FEEL fear. They are mothers and children and babies, for gods sake. (lamb and veal OMG they are babies!!!)

And for those of us who are aware that we are one, when we hurt ONE member of our "body" we hurt the whole. (just as when we help one being, we help heal the whole.)

So yes, I eat meat, for now. But I have no argument or rebuttal or rationalization for doing so. I do agree 100% that the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is the non-violent, coherent choice.

Peace,
Alana
