I have not had it.  My vision has always been great except for when I was 26 and got the measles.  Then I lost most of my vision for about 6 months.  I collected some fresh juniper berries from the local mountains and these brought my vision back to 100% in a week.

I have not heard a lot of good about Lasik.  People have ended up with permanent eye injuries and blindness and I heard the average failure time is around 2 years.  If this is the case then your friend was pretty lucky to have gone 8 years. I personally would not have it done.
