Have a look at http://www.thechinastudy.com/PDFs/VegSource_Testimonial.pdf
I quote:
"I read “The China Study” and made a decision to stop eating animal protein. I also found the link to Mr. McDougall’s site through this book. Nothing in the book indicated that there would be any help for Depression but my blood pressure had been creeping up over the years and I am 5 foot 11 inches weighing 201 pounds. I had eaten for 48 years based on no scientific research. I was stuck in the river of western eating and would have to go wherever it carried me. I figured if I could benefit my health by actually peer-securitized scientific research I would jump ship and start heading the other way.
The first couple of weeks were a bit difficult as I stopped drinking all soda drinks, coffee, Sugar and stopped eating all animal protein.
I also decided while cleaning my body out I would not take the anti- Depression medication for a couple of weeks unless the Depression became too difficult to bear.
After about a week I could tell something was going on in the area of depression. I could not feel the symptoms! I was cautiously optimistic. Another week passed and I found myself with a smile on my face. My friends were making comments about my smile although I was still dealing with headaches from caffeine withdraws. The most impressed person was my wife. She had been dealing with my depression for many years. She recently told me that she was not sure she knew me any more. Normally this would not be good to hear from your wife but in this case she was well pleased."
There are testimonials on all the major plant based nutrition websites.
One interesting thing he says is:
"If you believe the Garden of Eden story of the creation of man then think about the fact that man did not even kill animals until after the fall of Adam and Eve. They were at least Vegetarians if not Vegans. I have heard it said that true Science is discovery. I am sure that true religion is discovery. It may be possible that God set us on a path of discovery in the area of human nutrition. This may very well be part of God’s plan for man’s evolution towards His likeness."
It's strange that he mentions the Adam and Eve story, I just posted on that. As I mentioned I am not religious as such, I sort of am what I am, but it does seem that plants are intrinsically linked to us and provide this "symphony" of nutrition that T Colin Campbell refers to, and I do believe that the way we are born in this world gives us the chance to discover the correct fuel for our bodies.
We are brainwashed into thinking that meat and two veg is right, and there are layers and layers of truths that we have to uncover. But when you let those plants into your body, it's almost like letting a team of surgeons into your body that go round inside putting things right.
And again thinking of the religious analogy, there is that saying about it being easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. That is usually interpreted as people wanting to bring their baggage along and not let go of things, and with plant based nutrition, people want to cling to their meat and dairy, but they eat healthily otherwise and it just doesn't seem to work.
Yet another religious analogy - "the wages of sin is death". Taken in the context of the REAL meaning of the word sin, which means "to miss the mark" (the Greek word hamartia which we translate to this new word "sin" with these silly connotations of evil means just that - not getting it quite right). Sin is just a mistake, that;s all, not getting it right. And with nutrition, if you get it wrong, you end up with something nasty and this sort of slowly kills you. So the wages of sin really is death in this context.
Now, what was that but about the way of god giving us eternal life or something. Well, haven't quite figured out that one yet, but I guess you can extend your life up to 100 / 120 if you really get it right. Not quite infinity, lol.
Don't let any of this depress you ;). Good luck with whatever you try.
