Mouse',
to suggest that Dr Fuhrman supports taking DHA supplements because of the profit-motive is a bit rich and conjectural.
The Cornell course you did via the teachings of Dr McDougall does not necessarily hold ALL the answers in nutritional science, and is his own viewpoint amongst that of many within the field of nutrition.
We mustn't forget that both Dr Fuhrman and Dr McDougall both agree on a plant-based diet (as we do), so at least they have that in common.
We should also bear in mind that Dr Shelton was a personal friend of Dr Fuhrmans and who actually died of a "fall" related to his condition of Parkinsons disease and not Alzheimers as you have stated.
Shelton's condition was too far advanced for the DHA supplements to have any appreciable effect if he did take any at all, which I was not aware of.
I agree with you that it is also a matter of personal choice whether supplements are necessary or not, but there are always two sides to a coin.
Dr McDougall does not have all the answers, and neither does Dr Fuhrman, (as I don't in Water-only-fasting) but it would be in everyones interest to consider all points of view (mostly backed and supported by scientific research) in making that analogy/assessment.
Take care.
Chrisb1.
