My daughter is 5 years old and has had 4 or 5 bladder infections over the past 2 years. The last one being as recent as a week ago. She had finished off her anti biotic days ago and has all of a sudden been complaining of burning when she pees again. There is also a wide area of redness on the outer part of her vagina again. I'm not sure if this is another infection starting or just a random rash that is causing her urine to sting. If it is yet another infection, what could be causing these multiple infections? We have stopped using bath bubbles, I still use Johnson and Johnson baby body wash on her as well as shampoo and I even make her shower half the time instead of taking baths. She seems to wipe front to back fine but has had an issue with holding her bladder WAY too long, and having occassional accidents here and there because of it. ( we have spoken to here about this over and over and she STILL doesn't listen to us) There is and never has been blood or vomiting accompanied by these other signs and we had brought her in for an ultra sound a year ago and everything seemed fine. I would just like to know what might be causing these infections and what I can do in the future to try and prevent them. If it's just a random rash this time, what might be causing this? I'm worried she may have VUR and kidney damage, as an extreme of course, but I"m also concerned that pumping all those anti biotics into her little body over and over may do damage to her in the long haul.
