I would just be honest with him - we do the best we can at each stage of our life with the information we have. I think the older son will appreciate your honesty and if the second son decides he wants to have a circumcision done - he can do it as an adult with anesthesia. This is something you and your husband will have to seriously discuss together, but it seems to me that whether we are dealing with spouse abuse, child abuse, alcoholism, circumcision - whatever it is - if it's not productive - we have to break the chain somewhere.
