I'm sorry about your Dog. It's hard to hear of things you can do at the time but you only find out about them later :(
My last Cat died at an old age but his liver failed and I know now there are other things I could have done and signs I would now recognize that I could have given him a longer life.
So now with this little guy I am starting him back on a drop of Iodine in his water. I am reading that Cats are more likely to be HyPERthyroid than HyPO. And IF he is he shows more HyperThyroid.
I checked his leg though and the hair is starting to grow back because the rash is almost gone so something is working!
I'll continue to keep the fleas away, I just got non-toxic Enzyme-based Lice R Gone from this place which can be used on Pets (but I haven't used it yet):

I've been giving him small Acidophilus tablets and also just got a Feline FOS and Enzyme powder (haven't used it yet either, just got these items) I think he needs Enzymes too, so all of this will help to keep him in good health :)
