A very interesting post Mouseclick.

On the subject of supplements, it will also depend on which ones we are referring to and I have three points here.

#1. The ideal plant-based diet that I, and we are in favour of, is not nearly as nutritious as it once was because of nutrient soil depletion, pollution, transportation and storage: all of which reduce the nutritional content of food; there is a body of evidence that supports this view.
For example: an orange grown over 40 years ago contains approx' 8 times more nutrition than an orange grown today.

#2. I fail to see how wholefood supplements can be harmful. Are chlorella or spirulina harmful?

We should bear in mind that supplements only supp-le-ment the diet and are not designed to replace it, and so if most foodstuffs are nutritionally deficient then supplements go along way in making up that shortfall.
I would call it "health-Insurance".

#3. Isolated nutrients such as Vitamin D3 in supplementary form, are in my view essential in the winter months because of the lack of sunlight, or for those who are unable to receive adequate sunlight-exposure because of the nature of their work.

A B12 deficiency has been linked to the bodys state of toxemia or malabsorption issues or improper food combining: these inhibit the production of "intrinsic factor" within the stomach for the manufacture of B12. The former two conditions are also resolved thru water-only-fasting.

Although your opinion may have changed on water fasting, I would agree with you that lifestyle choices should negate the need to do so, but there is also the question of keeping the body free from exogenous and endogenous toxins, and where an annual fast of 10 to 15 days should keep the body relatively free from toxemia.
Unfortunately, this is not an ideal World.

Dr Campbell's view of fasting with cancer is not all encompassing as (for example) Liver cancer is contraindicated, and where fasting has no benefit.

Take care.

Chrisb1.
