I've never used apple juice because I didn't notice it in the original protocol to begin with .. and I always had good results. I usually just have an apple during the day I eat. However, now I am experimenting with a fasting flush. THe first time I tried it, at the end of my second day without eating anything, I had amazing results the follwing day following up throughout the day with SWF's early and ES later.
