Right on, I should have said no one since I've been on here has mentioned it ... I checked out the post you were referring to just now, I didn't have a chance to earlier. Strange that the kid had it too, perhaps there is a genetic predisposition element (unless they were kissing the kid on the lips -- not kosher). In the same thread our long-term fellow sufferer uklad mentions his long-term girlfriend never got it from him.
As for the healthcare thing, I totally understand not wanting to see a doctor and pre-existing conditions (that require usually non-covered experimental treatments anyway). Mentioning to a potential insurer about my oral pathologist who only looked at my lips and was useless ended up me getting denied coverage recently by United Healthcare (it was his failure to send sufficient information to them that did it, I know because they requested information about my stool test through Aundrea Adams as well and that cleared their hurdles)
In retrospect I should have just said nothing, I know. I think if you scraped the funds together you could order a stool test and never mention it to anyone. Remember everyone has it, but is there any reason to believe yours might be out of balance?
Anyway, I'm on the waiting list for Medicaid now and not holding out too much hope for the healthcare bill to bring real reform anytime soon, or for doctors to start researching this. It really is up to us.
