potassium Iodide is EXACTLY what the thyroid uses. inside the body there is always reduction and oxidation. when KI, a reduced salt, hits the stomach acid then the opposite of reduction, oxidation, occurs and Iodine is released. similarly, when Iodine in any pure form gets into the body it is reduced into a salt and/or uptaken into cells and out of serum in two hours. this is true for the I2 in my 2% product or Lugols or the nascent iodine. that is why when it comes to pure forms the most effective dosage is divided throughout the day and taken every one to two hours to keep iodine in circulation to be delivered where it is needed most."

I don't know where "trapper" got his information, but it jives with other information I have seen.
