I really don't want to discourage anyone as I know I could be wrong. I myself practice CFQ qigong after reading the books by and about Yap Soon Yeong and also some medical qigong and also took classes from a lineage holder of a Taoist form of which there are countless but I have no proof it was genuine either . I do believe some qigongs can safely be mixed if you know the purpose of the movements.

I certainly don't believe this practice is detrimental but it dissallows the practice of other possibly more effective qigong

If you read the story of Yang Meijun who died recently at the age of 106 I believe, you may see a lot of similarities in her story and Dr Yan Xin also promoted the idea of doing good deeds and virtue being important in qigong. These were both very famous in China at the time this qigong was revealed.
The ability to do short practices and carry on other activity at the same time is appealing and likely adds to the popularity.

In CFQ the exercises are also fairly easy to learn but there is a strong theory behind them.
Also the mind is not too engaged in the process but should not be occupied in any other way either so in that sense there is a similarity.
If you have the tv on and it arouses thoughts or grabs attention then I feel this would reduce the benefit.

It could of course be entirely genuine but there must be some way of discerning the fakes.
Like the master says though if you practice it for 3 months and get no significant benefit then move onto another one

Please let me know how you get on and if you smell any fragrances. I found that part fascinating :)
