I went to the eye doc last week because I've noticed a decline in my vision- distance vision, to be precise. Shockingly, it was determined that I need glasses for my distance vision.

Background- month or so ago I was driving down the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, on Hwy 80, at dusk. I couldn't SEE! It was scary:( Everything was the same color, the light was flat. Soooo...I decided to get my eyes checked. waaaah.

I wore glasses for about a year when I was a kid- 11. I HATED them with a passion, I finally absolutely REFUSED to wear them and guess what? For the last 40 years my vision has been JUST FINE! So THERE!

But now....I'm 50. sigh.

So, I'm going to get the stinking glasses, but I will ONLY wear them in bad conditions (such as driving mountain roads at dusk, or dawn).

I'm also going to start doing the bates method. Google it. I've recommended it to people but I've never made a consistent practice of it myself:) Because I do NOT want to wear glasses! Glasses make your eyes WORSE!!!!

BTW, any suggestions re: nutrients greatly appreciated.

The point of this post....last night I was reading the Bates book, "better eyesight without glasses", and I loved this snippet, I want to share it with you:

"It is as natural for the eyes to see as it is for the mind to acquire knowledge, and any effort in either case not only is useless but defeats the end in view. You may force a few facts into a child's mind by various kinds of compulsion, but you cannot make him learn anything. The facts remain, if they remain at all, as dead lumber in the brain. They contribute nothing to the vital process of thought, and because they are not acquired naturally and not assimilated, they destroy the natural impulse of the mind toward the acquisition of knowledge. By the time the child leaves school or college, as the case may be, he not only knows nothing but is, in the vast majority of cases, incapable of learning."
