Regarding my spontaneous bleeds under skin on hands problem.
You said in another post something might be causing thinning of the blood.
I take no medications however. Are any of the herbs you suggest blood thinners?
The ginkgo you are taking is a blood thinner. And there are many other herbs that also have mild blood thinning properties including cayenne, ginger, turmeric, vanilla, lomatium, angelica (dong quai), mints, etc. If you are taking fish oil this also thins the blood. Dark green leafy vegetables help with blood clotting.
If it was serious would it not be on other parts of the body too?
Hands are an area that are frequently bumped making them more likely to develop capillary breaks.
I've seen photos of purpura and petchia (sp) and they cover large areas, on legs and back etc.
If the blood vessels are weak then even light trauma can cause this. For example this is often seen in people on Coumadin (Warfarin) which thins out blood vessel walls and inhibits clotting.
So far, it could be lack of nutrients, too thin blood, or platelet problem, or could be to do with my hypothyroidism somehow.
Yes, this is also a possibility. I posted a link to a medical journal abstract on this exact subject a few days ago. But this is why I think you need to get checked for platelet disorders.
Also I get them on dorsal of hands, fingers, knuckles mainly. I'm not getting them on palms. I don't know whether that indicates anything.
Again this is the most likely area to bump the hand causing trauma to the capillaries.
