Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant and helps to raise ATP levels in muscle cells. Magnesium malate is the best choice as the malic acid (malate) also raises ATP levels, which helps the cells to not only function, but to function properly. Recommended dose is 300mg magnesium malate 2 to 3 times daily. Do not take it with calcium since calcium is a muscle contractor and magnesium works by being a calcium channel blocker.

There is an herb called kudzu root (ge gen), which is also an excellent muscle relaxer. It also has a number of other beneficial properties, so you may also want to check in to it.

The other thing I HIGHLY recommend is silica. Silica is essential for the production of collagen and elastin, which gives the tissues their strength and elasticity. This includes the tendons and ligaments, so the silica can help prevent contracture. The best way to use it is to add purified diatomaceous earth to your drinking water so you absorb a little of the silica, in the form of orthosilicic acid, every time you drink the water.
