hey neo
you're so right - i *am* confused about the caffeine/phase 1 issue. i have had 2 drs and a naturopath tell me that high phase 1 is super-reactive to caffeine - but that doesn't correspond with anything i've read about pathological detoxifiers.
but there it is: i do get high from caffeine and i do have slow phase 1/high phase 2 liver detoxification. when i had to take the caffeine tablets for the test, i felt like i had tuned in, turned on and dropped out. it was messy.
hey, i'm not actually taking any of those things for my liver, i'm just researching. i'm trying to find the best thing to stimulate phase 2 and inhibit phase 1. i just don't think it's possible to fix my adrenals without resolving my liver at the same time. ya know?
i was actually taking a formula with broccoli sprout in it: metagenics phyto pro which has brassica oleracea (broccoli) sprout powder 100 mg per tablet - but it made me bloated and gassy. hv told me that is a common side effect of broccoli sprout. which is likely a gut flora + stomach acid issue. which i'm working on.
the calcium d glucarate looks excellent. i'll add that to my research list. thanks.
methylation, right on. i was asking the gp the other day about a histamine blood test because i seem to have symptoms of both over- and under- methylation (in terms of reactions to drugs and specific vitamins) he was pretty dismissive, so he would be even more opposed to testing homocysteine and SAMe levels. i might ask my new specialist doctor when i go back and get my labs from her.
have you ever had the methylation panel done? i've been thinking about it. it's like US$350 though. ouch.
i'm fairly sure i don't have mecury toxicity as the causal factor for methylation issues. i've had several different bio-energy feedback tests for heavy metals and they were all negative. maybe i should consider a more comprehensive heavy metals analysis too.
however, none of these things really seems to explain this ridiculous systemic fluid retention. my hypothesis is that my body is diluting itself as a protection from oxidative stress due to liver dysfunction. i haven't found any information that would substantiate that though.
hmmm. thanks neo, lots to think about...
